lifetime.

Would you like to have an experience that allows you to simply relax and results in beautiful keepsakes featuring your favorite people? Send me a message and let’s chat!
When my clients and I work together to plan and execute a portrait session, every detail is carefully considered. From location, to wardrobe, to the subjects included, to the moments portrayed in the photo, everything is intentionally crafted and then memorialized forever in printed form. This process helps you cherish and preserve memories from a time that you might have otherwise forgotten.
Clients often remark that they feel that time is “moving too fast,” so the process of creating and printing memories can be incredibly profound and meaningful.
These stunning albums are one of my favorite ways of displaying my clients’ images. If you had an album like this, where would you keep it in your home?

The Benefits of an In-Home Family Portrait Session
Don't let the cold weather in the Ann Arbor area keep you from capturing this time with your family! I LOVE in-home family sessions! There are so many benefits to having a family portrait session at home. Your family is comfortable and at ease, which can lead to natural expressions and stunning results.
If you and your loved ones enjoy spending time together in the comfort of your own home doing things like playing games, baking, reading, and decorating cookies and cupcakes, pies, and more, these sessions are perfect for you.
What is an in-home family session?
In-home (or at-home) family sessions are natural family portrait sessions that take place at your home. They aren't as much about posed portraits as they are about capturing your family's everyday life, activities, and interactions. Family portrait sessions in your home are great for capturing more than just your family, love and connection. Your photos will also document your beloved home! Your home is a significant part of your life story because it is where you are raising your children and making memories together.
How it works:
Wear what makes you feel comfortable, don't stress over keeping a spotless house or well-behaved children, and just be yourself. Plan a few family activities, such as baking cookies, playing favorite board games, or throwing a ball in the backyard. Just be yourselves, and I'll photograph it. The majority of our time together will be spent capturing candid moments, with a few quick posed shots sprinkled in. You'll spend less time looking at the camera and more time interacting with each other.
Benefits of at-home family sessions:
You don’t need to drive anywhere. No packing up supplies, or loading the kids in the car to drive somewhere, while trying to keep them happy, clean, and not wrinkled until you arrive.
We can be flexible in scheduling your session. Unlike on-location sessions, we don't have to plan it around the best time of year or the best time of day. I can do an at-home session any time of day, any day of the year. We can photograph your family making cinnamon rolls together for breakfast or playing games in the afternoon!
It’s where your kids are most comfortable. A familiar space makes it that much easier for me to capture your kids’ true personalities! They won't be as shy and will warm up faster in their own safe space!
Pets can be included! Your pets are part of your family too and doing your session at your home allows us to easily include them. From dogs to bearded dragons, we can include them all!
At-home lifestyle sessions center on the connections shared by you and your loved ones. When we take your portraits in your own home, we can include details about your space and daily routine that would otherwise go unnoticed. Subtle connective moments in a family's daily life, such as cuddling on the couch, braiding hair, a quick kiss between parents, or horseplaying between siblings, can make for really cherished photographs.
All the quirky traits of your family will be on display. All families have their own awesome, unique silliness! That fun side of your family will come out best in your own home!
Everyday details at home will be captured- your son’s favorite blankie, your daughter’s bead collection, that home project you all are working on. There are so many little details in the daily life of a family that are worth remembering. How awesome it will be for you and your kids to be able to look back and see what the kitchen table looked like or how their bedroom was decorated when they were small. Over time, families frequently relocate or change their decor, which causes the day-to-day details to eventually slip from memory. Then you will have pictures to serve as a reminder of how things once were.
Home has a laid-back vibe. Your house is your safe haven, the place you can relax the most. Being at home for your session, with no pressure to get anything done, allows you to unwind and spend quality time with your family. You won’t need to rush everyone around to prepare to drive to a photo session at another location. At home, on a typical morning or afternoon, everyone can relax and be themselves. There is a relaxed atmosphere, with no pressure or expectations.
Authenticity shines through during an in-home session. Your family can relax and be themselves because you're all in your comfort zone where there are no demands and no pressure to perform. A session at home documenting a typical day will add authenticity to your photos that may not be present at other locations.
You don’t have to wear shoes if you don’t want to!
I truly enjoy documenting families in their home and the perfect time to schedule this kind of session in Ann Arbor is wintertime! The cold won’t bother us as we are toasty warm hanging and out playing in your home. Send me a message and let’s start planning your cozy family session for this winter!
Why You Should Document Your Baby’s First Year with Professional Photos
The first year of a baby’s life is filled with incredible growth. It’s amazing to watch your little one grow from a sleepy newborn into a laughing, cruising toddler in just 12 months. Capturing the milestones of their development as they happen allows you to cling to memories that can seem so fleeting as they pass. But as every seasoned parent will tell you, the time really does fly by! And in the haze of your first-year exhaustion, it can be challenging to remember to pick up your camera and photograph the little everyday memories and moments that will be so meaningful to your family later.
Your child, also, will want to look back on their own infancy and learn about themselves through pictures. Having that visual record available and easily accessible, is a huge gift to your child. It allows them to see their own infancy, especially in relation to you and other family members who also appear in the photos, and it allows them to appreciate how much they were loved and wanted as a baby. That can go a long way toward helping them develop a strong sense of self-esteem and an awareness of their importance in the family.
That’s why it’s so crucial to schedule regular sessions with a professional photographer to capture your child’s changes, especially in their first year. You don't want to miss a moment as your baby changes and grows because it happens so quickly!
Here are some of the milestones you will want to document with a professional session. You can then compile these images into an album or image box for a beautiful keepsake to one day hand down to your child when he is grown.
Remember, each baby hits their milestones at their own pace, so the ages referenced below are only a general guideline for a typically-developing baby. If your baby is ahead or behind that schedule, don’t worry! We can customize this experience to meet them right where they are.
Pushing Up
To document all the changes your child has undergone since their newborn session, it's a great idea to schedule another session for them at around five or six months. Your infant may be capable of holding their head up and pushing up on their arms at this stage, which is ideal for looking directly into the camera. No more sleepy newborn poses! Your infant is developing more personality traits every day and will likely be alert and wide-eyed during this session. Your photographer will be able to capture some adorable moments of your baby on their stomach or even rolling over, if they have mastered that skill. If you want to see how much has changed in a short period of time, compare these pictures to the ones you took when your child was a newborn.
Sitting Up
When your baby is eight to nine months old, they may start to sit up on their own and exhibit even more adorable facial expressions for your photographer to record. At this point, they might even be starting to crawl or scoot around the room on their bottoms. To reduce the likelihood that your child will fall over during the session, make sure they can sit up unassisted before scheduling this session. Even if they seem to be holding themselves fairly steadily, you'll still want to make sure you're close by, just in case.
First Birthday
You'll start noticing significant changes in your baby around the age of a year; they won't seem like such a baby anymore! Your child might start to take their first clumsy steps around this time and will likely be flashing their brand-new teeth when they smile. A one-year session is a wonderful opportunity to really capture your child's personality and to mark how far your family has progressed both individually and collectively. You've made it through the baby months and are now entering toddlerhood, which is a whole new adventure!
In addition to simple portraits, it can be fun to schedule a cake smash session as well. We’ll work together to create a theme, and I’ll help with decor and outfit ideas. Then, we’ll welcome your baby to play and explore their first taste of cake as I capture adorable images – the messier the better! As a Philadelphia newborn and family photographer, it’s impossible to pick a favorite type of session…. But if I had to choose, I think cake smash sessions would definitely top my list!
You'll want to document the development of your child's personality and physical features as they grow. However, as a parent of a newborn, trying to take routine photos of your child is just one more thing added to your to-do list—and something you might not have time for. I’d be honored to help take this off your plate and help you get high-quality pictures to display on your walls and share with loved ones. That way, you get the beautiful portraits you want, and your child will have many wonderful images to look back on as they grow older. Reach out by clicking “contact” above and let’s document your baby’s very special first year!
